Where is Caunes-Minervois?
Caunes-Minervois is located in the Languedoc-Roussilon area of southern France. The name "Languedoc" is a straight-forward contraction of "Langue d'Oc,"
the language of the troubadors. Oc, or Occitan, is still found in many place names and sometimes heard in speech, especially in the smaller villages.
How to Get There
The region is served by the excellent French rail system. The TGV, the famous high-speed train, can be taken directly from Charles DeGaulle Airport to Carcassonne by way of Montpelier in just over six hours. Most international airlines serve the airport at Toulouse, less than 90 minutes away. The French tollway system, the Peage, brings the motorist to within 20 kilometres of Caunes-Minervois.
The nearest large city is Carcassonne, the largest walled city in Europe whose fortifications could well have been the inspiration for Disneyland's castle. Ryan Air makes cheap, daily flights from London's Stansted Airport to Carcassonne.
The village is well located for visits to Languedoc's many scenic, cultural and historic sites, and there are an abundance of activities available in the area.

Less than an hour from the Mediterranean and the Spanish Border, Caunes-Minervois is an ideal hub from which to visit all the wonders of the south of France.
