Built in 1866
by a local wine merchant, this fully furnished, stone-built maison is ideal for
families with children of all ages, a group of friends, honey-mooners, couples
wishing to 'play house', or anyone with a taste for comfort, space and privacy.

It is situated on Avenue du Minervois, the Village's main street, convenient to shops
and restaurants. The house's austere front reflects the 19th-century builder's attitude that it is unnecessary to impress either strangers or the tax collector with one's wealth. The rich interior and sunny garden, however, show an appreciation of comfort and good living.

| At the end of the large foyer are a spacious living room, which offers a
fireplace, and the dining room with seating for eight. The windows look out
onto the back courtyard and carriage house. Access to the courtyard is through
the 'cave', a remnant of the village's medieval ramparts.

Guests may take their
pick of the three sunny bedrooms, one with a working fireplace and another with a
flower-filled terrace large enough to accommodate a group and intimate enough
to offer privacy, with a view over the rooftops of Caunes to the
Pyrénnées.

The
ground floor has laundry facilities and a half bathroom. There are two
bathrooms with showers on the second floor, and all bed and bath linens are
provided.

On your own private terrace, sip your morning café au lait and nibble on fresh croissants
from the bakery a few doors away. Curl up on a sofa by the living room fire with a favorite book. The sunny walled courtyard is ideal for outdoor
entertaining, dining, sunbathing, relaxing and playing.

| The spacious kitchen includes gas stove, refrigerator, small appliances and
necessary cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. There is a wonderful open hearth with authentic Caunes marble chimney that formerly was used for all cooking in the house, but now the gas range and electric oven are more suited to modern tastes. A barbecue is available for guests' use. Soak up the sun in the walled courtyard while your children play safely around you. Cook up a gourmet meal and eat by candle and moonlight in the formal dining room of your own vacation home in the South of France. You will find Chez-Thorp the perfect setting for the relaxing vacation you have been yearning for.

Chez-Thorp is available for a minimum of one week's stay, Saturday
afternoon until the following Saturday morning.
